Museums and art galleries

The Kunsthaus hosts four art exhibitions each year, which take up new topics and reflect trends in contemporary art.

The House (Kunsthaus) organises up to eight exhibitions each year, which address new themes and reflect trends in contemporary art. The focus is on contemporary Swiss art with international perspectives where relevant.  

The museum shows a collection of ceramic, glass (a.o. Flüehli- or “Waldhütten”-glass), music instruments and tools for daily life.

The Museum on the theme of stone is a meeting place between testimonies of former industrial culture and contemporary artistic creation.

The museum presents numerous objects from the Laufen Valley’s history, including prehistoric, Roman, and medieval finds and objects from stonemasonry, which was so important for this valley. The museum presents sculptures by Erwin Rehmann (1921-2020) in the garden. The museum also shows the atelier of the sculptor and organizes exhibition presenting other artists.

Photos, films, objects and documents are presented through audio-visual displays and computer terminals.  The exhibition presents various thematic thematic spaces that illustrate modern humanitarian action according the example by Henry Dunant (1828-1910) and the Red Half Moon.
