Museums and art galleries

The museum in an eighteenth century farming house shows the way of living in a village community during this period.    

The museum displays a wide range of toys from the beginning of the 19th century up to the modern age; among others dolls, dollhouses, grocery stores, teddy bears, wooden and tin toys, railways, tin soldiers.

The showpiece of the museum is the living culture around 1800 with the beautiful salon. In addition, the following subjects are presented in the permanent exhibition: Valley and cultural history, tourism, economy, flora and fauna, mountain transport and a natural history cabinet.  

The interactive exhibition immerses visitors in the history and culture of the Rheinwald with historical objects, film footage, experience stations, and stories. The organization (Umwelt Arena) is dedicated to all forms of sustainable energy, housing, transport and ways of living and one of the first ot its kind worldwide, a museum of the near future.

The museum depicts the history of the village, in which agriculture and tourism occupy a central place.  

The artillery fortress was built in 1939-1941 as part of the border fortifications in the Rhine Valley. The museum organizes exhibitions with regard to contemporary and modern art on paper, drawings, engravures, oil paintings and other artistic expressions on paper.

The monastery was founded in 515 and still functions. Fifteenth century of cultural history are open to the public, including the archaeological site, the catacobs, the basilica and the abbey treasure.

The Segantini Museum was opened in St. Moritz in 1908, nine years after the death of Giovanni Segantini (1858-1899).
