The museum looks after the poetic estate of Simon Gfeller (1868-1943) and, above all, preserves the Simon Gfeller memorial in Heimisbach. The memorial room is a documentation and meeting place for the dissemination of the printed work of Simon Gfelle as well as the regional and folklore of the Emmental.

The museum presents the work and life of the poet Simon Gfeller (1868-1943).

The museum shows the local life and history of Hérémence.

The museum is dedicated to the history of glass and the Glasi Hergiswil company.

The former Town hall of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Herisau shows the history and culture of the canton from medieval times to the present.

The aim of the Association for Iron and Mining (Verein Eisen und Bergwerke) is to highlight the history of iron ore mining in the Upper Fricktal in relation to geology and landscape and in particular to highlight the importance of iron ore mining for Switzerland and its economic significance for the region.    

The museum is an art gallery as well and focuses on the art of illusion and holography, including 3-D objects and inversion statues.
