The museum is devoted to the cultural history of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden, its hand embroidery, folk art, painted furniture and archaeological finds from the Wildkirchli caves.
The gallery (Kunsthalle Ziegelhütte) is dedicated to the artists Carl Liner Vater (1871-1946) and his son Carl Walter Liner (1914-1997) and also gives an impression of modern and contemporary art. The Gallery also organises conferences and other events.
