Museums and art galleries

The museum (Heimatmuseum) shows the (pre- and medieval) history of the village.

The museum houses a collection of precious toys from the years 1900 – 1980. More than 100 display cases with cars, model trains and many other toys bear witness to the spirit of the times.

The museum (Museo plebano) hosts archaeological, historical and art exhibitions. On the outside of the Museum and in the small entrance-hall there is a permanent exhibition of rare archaeological, historical and religious artefacts.    

The Vine, Wine and Wine Label Museum (Musée de la vigne, du vin, de l’étiquette) is based on current wine-world practices in the region and places them in their environmental and historical contexts. The museum is dedicated to the painter Frédéric Rouge (1867-1950), known for his paintings ofthe Rhône Valley, the Alpes and other topics.  

The museum evokes and represents the importance and influence of the Gotthard Pass, economically, strategically, politically and culturally and will give you knowledge of the Switzerland and the soul of the country.

The museum provides insight into the changing life and working groups of the farming population and the development of agricultural technology.

The museum houses the most extensive collection of the campaign of the Russian general Alexander Suworow (1730-1800) in Switzerland in the years 1798 and 1799. The events are depicted from the perspective of the Napoleonic wars by means of numerous documents, finds, images and maps.

The house (Haus der Kunst) organises three exhibitions of contemporary art each year.
