The View of the Alpes
Those who take the mountain road over La Vue des Alpes in the Swiss Jura will be rewarded with a magnificent panorama. The alternative is the 3 250 meters long tunnel connecting La Chaux-de-Fonds to Neuchâtel, but one will miss in winter (and other seasons) a magnificent view over the Alpes (in case of bright weather). The 1283 meter high spot shows Lake Neuchâtel and the Alps in the background. From right to left the Mont Blanc, Les Dents du Midi to the Jungfrau, Mönch and Eiger and all (high) peaks of the Berner and Valais Alps in between. Sometimes the view extends even further. In the direction of La Chaux-de-Fonds, you can see the Jura and the Vosges. La Vue des Alpes may not be the highest point of the Jura mountains, but it is one of the most impressive.
