Pinocchio in Riom
10 December 2024
Carlo Collodi’s (1826-1890) children’s novel Pinocchio is on the Christmas programme in the romantic Clavadeira in Riom (canton Graunbunden). This extraordinary story is about becoming an adult, a humorous meditation on freedom, and a touching evening for the whole family.
Every child knows Pinocchio, the stubborn puppet from Master Gepetto’s carpenter’s workshop. When he lies, his nose grows. When he is naughty, his carpenter father cries. But the wooden boy is much more than a disobedient marionette. Pinocchio wants to become a real boy, a fully-fledged human being. The path to get there is long, bold and adventurous.
Yaiza Coll’s (b. 1994) new choreography for Origens Winter Theatre is danced by Borja Bermudez, Marc Jubete, Nicolas Gläsmann, Alex Vazquez Gala and Júlia Martí Gasull. The performers are familiar guests on Origens’ stages. Most recently, they interpreted the anniversary play ‘1524‘ on the birth of the Free State of the Three Leagues (Freistaat der Drei Bünde) on the open-air stage in Lantsch, breathing life into the historical figures.
Performances: Riom, Clavadeira, 5:30 p.m.: 23, 27, 28, 29 and 30 December 2024 and 2, 3 and 4 January 2025
