The collections portray the history of the textile industry, from its inception to the present, highlighting its triumphs and challenges. Among the highlights of the collection are late antique fabrics from Coptic graves in Egypt, historical embroideries dating back to the 14th century, handmade lace from major European lace-making centres, ethnological textiles, historical fabrics and costumes, needlework utensils, and contemporary textile art objects.
