In the medieval paper mill building, the museum (Schweizerisches Museum für Papier, Schrift und Druck, die Basler Papiermühle) presents the history of paper and writing, from its origins in Antiquity to the present day, as well as the process of paper and book production.
The museum also has a remarkable and extensive collection, some of which is more than a thousand years old.
The exhibitions and authentic workshops, in which production is carried out on old machines, allow visitors to participate in the production process.
