Natural History Museum Basel

The Earth Sciences collections at the Natural History Museum Basel (Naturhistorisches Museum Basel) contain over four million objects. They witness the history of the planet and the evolution of life.

The Earth Sciences and Biological Collections have a long history. They have been collected since 1661. They are divided into sections on anthropology, mineralogy, and palaeontology.

The biological collections include birds, mammals, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates, tiny animals, such as mites, and a beautiful collection of skeletons or replicas of extinct animals.
