Cathedral Treasure Museum

The relics, liturgical objects, precious fabrics, ornamental works of gold, silver, bronze and ivory exhibited in the Cathedral Treasury Museum are unique.

The exhibition is divided into several thematic areas. The show leads through about 1600 years of history of the Diocese of Chur.

In a room in the former wine cellar of the bishop’s palace, the Totentanz (Dance of Death) from 1543 can be seen. The 25 painted panels show people’s encounters with death.

They are in the (Central European) tradition of the Totentanz and are the best-preserved originals of this genre.
