Castle Museum Meersburg

The oldest inhabited German fortress is now a Museum, where the visitor can discover the Middle Ages. An old legend and a 1548 document say that this stronghold dates back to the 7th century, to the Merovingians under king Dagobert 1st. The “Burgmuseum” (Fortress Museum) will take the visitor to a medieval living area, through a Knights Hall, an Arms Hall, a well-room, a castle dungeon, chapels, guard’s walkways and towers, the fortress garden and the defensible northern bastion.
