Bourbaki Panorama

The theme of the panorama of 112 by 10 meters is the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71, the defeat of the French Army and the eventual surrender to the neutral Swiss Army when the Bourbaki Army had crossed the border at Les Verrires (canton Neuchâtel). The architect Jacques Elysee Goss designed the exhibition building for the panorama rotunda and the artist Edouard Castres painted the circular composition, that was originally in Geneva, but moved to Lucerne.
