The museum (Antikenmuseum Basel und Sammlung Ludwig) is dedicated to the ancient art and culture of the Mediterranean region. It presents 5000 years of culture and history. The collection mainly focuses on Egypt, the Near East, Greece and Italy from 4000 BC to 400 AD.
