Lake Thun Castles
Lake Thun (Thunersee) overlooks snow-capped Alpine peaks and is the location of three very well-preserved medieval castles and an impressive nineteenth century replica. The castles in Spiez, Thun and Oberhofen and the castle Hünegg, built in 1861, and their museums are open to the public. The Hünegg castle was built after the example of the French Loire region and is a good example of Historism. The medieval castles all have their own (architectural) history to tell, in permanent dialogue with the lake and the Alps. (Further information: www.thunerseeschloesser.ch).
