The Swiss National Library (die Schweizerische Nationalbibliothek) collects, catalogues and preserves information about Switzerland and makes it available to the public.
The collections consist of books, newspapers and periodicals, websites, maps and atlases, university and corporate publications, official publications and printed music.
The image documents in the Prints and Drawings Department include prints from the 17th to the 20th centuries, photographs, postcards and posters as well as editions/portfolios and books containing original graphic works.
The National Library’s special collections comprise musical estates, Bibles, the archives of the New Helvetic Society and documents on subjects such as library science, the press and radio.
