The Fifth Switzerland

The Organisation of the Swiss abroad (OSA), founded in 1916, informs Swiss citizens living abroad about actuality in Switzerland. The organisation is in contact with official Swiss representations, Swiss clubs and societies throughout the world, as well as Swiss media and members of the Swiss Parliament. To achieve the tasks, the organisation publishes a magazine six times a year to up to 422 000 copies in 5 languages all over the world, a newsletter and an information bulletin written especially for members of the Parliamentary group.

The Council of the Swiss Abroad (CSA) represents the interests of Swiss expatriates before the authorities and public opinion in Switzerland. This is why the media call it the ‘Parliament of the Fifth Switzerland’. The CSA gathers in Switzerland twice a year for a day-long meeting to discuss important matters concerning the around 750 000 – 1 000 000 Swiss citizens abroad and to voice an opinion on current affairs on behalf of these citizens.
