The Czarvich Alexei
The Riom Music Theatre (canton of Grisons) presents Alexei and tells about the life and death of the son of the last czar, the czarvich Alexei Nikolaevich Romanow (1904-1918), the only son of the czar. The boy is suffering from haemophilia, a blood disease. Alexei is a theatrical portrait of the unstoppable downfall of the Russian Tsarist Empire and of a precocious boy whose life tragically ends. The last pictures of him show a teenager playing music to endure the approaching end. The piece for dancers, singers and actors is based on songs and piano works by Modest Mussorgsky (1831-1889). The script and the direction are written by Giovanni Netzer (1967). The last performances will take place on 7, 8, 10 and 24, 28 and 29 March. (More information: www.origen.ch).
