The museum (musée Romain) exhibits the artefacts from the ancient Roman city Colonia Iulia Equestris, founded in 45 BC after the conquest of Gaul by Caesar. Veterans of the Roman army were among the first inhabitants. The ancient city center, Noviodunum, is today’s Nyon. The museum is located on the site of the Roman basilica and forum.
