Coin and Antiquity museum

The Coin and Antiquity museum (Münzkabinett und Antikensammlung) presents Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Swiss and other European coins and medals from antiquity to the present. The antiquity department deals with the cultures of the Middle East, Greece and Rome.

Kunsthalle Basel

The museum features international and Swiss contemporary art. It also hosts events, discussions, talks, performances, film screenings and other activities.  

Ancient Sculpture Museum

The museum (Skulpturhalle)  features around 2 000 replicas of ancient Roman and Greek sculpture. The collection was started in 1830. The unique “Parthenon Project” assembles casts of every surviving sculptural remnant from this monument in Athens.    

Jewish Museum

The Museum (Jüdisches Museum) exhibits items depicting religious and everyday life of the Jewish Community. Tombstones and contemporary documents dating from the Middle Ages, Hebrew books printed by the famous Basel printing houses and mementos of the Zionist Congresses enrich the collection.
