Farben in Switzerland
10 September 2019
The European Heritage Days will be presented in full colour on 14 and 15 September 2019. Under the title “Farben – Couleurs – Colori – Colurs”, they invite the public to rediscover the real estate heritage in all its colours and to discuss the use of colour in public spaces.
Visitors can participate for free in hundreds of guided tours, workshops or meetings in many places in Switzerland. In this way, the Heritage Days highlight the historical, political and aesthetic aspects of colour.
The doors of more than 300 locations throughout the country are open to the public. Specialists accompany visitors on this voyage of discovery of colour, which is omnipresent on the monuments. Topical issues such as the political implications of colours are also discussed.
Each city has its own distinctive colour: Bern is green, Basel is red and Neuchâtel is yellow. The various painting techniques and technical aspects are also discussed. The public will also be able to make exciting discoveries about the revolution of colour in photography and film, about the sound of colour and about lighting techniques.
The colours tell us stories from the past and broaden our vision on current spatial planning. (Source and more information: www.nike-kulturerbe.ch).
