The Säntis and its History
28 July 2021
A monastery monk of St. Gallen mentioned the Säntis in a letter around 850.
The Benedictine Father Desiderius Wetter (1702-1751) reported in his chronicle that on 14 November 1680, two clergymen and a naturalist from Zurich climbed the Säntis with a guide from Innerrhoden.
The saw a comet at the highest possible altitude. It did not change to this day; only the climb is much easier with the cable car.
